Goalless First Half at Signal Iduna Park
Borussia Dortmund finally claimed a win with a late goal at home. In Bundesliga matchday 7 of 2026/2027 at Signal Iduna Park on Saturday (24/10/2026), evening WIB, the hosts beat Eintracht Frankfurt 1-0 thanks to a Maximilian Beier goal in the 80th minute.
The first half ended goalless despite Dortmund's dominance. Serhou Guirassy had two golden chances: his 15th-minute effort was saved by goalkeeper Noah Atubolu, and a chip attempt minutes later also failed to find the net. Dortmund even hit the woodwork twice, including when Nnamdi Collins almost scored an own goal.
Frankfurt were not without chances. A Felix Nmecha mistake handed Younes Ebnoutalib a golden opportunity, but goalkeeper Gregor Kobel was alert to deny him. The tight first half closed at 0-0, and the start of the second half was briefly delayed by fireworks from the stands.
Beier Breaks the Deadlock off the Bench
Dortmund kept pressing in the second half but struggled to break down Frankfurt despite winning 13 corners to the visitors' one. Coach Niko Kovac then introduced two substitutes who made the difference: Jobe Bellingham and Maximilian Beier.
The long-awaited goal arrived in the 80th minute. Bellingham, with his first touch after coming on, fed Beier, and the substitute striker fired a right-footed shot from outside the box past the Frankfurt goal. It was Beier's second winning goal as a substitute this season after his strike against Stuttgart on matchday 4.
Frankfurt tried to respond in the remaining minutes, but Dortmund's defence held until the final whistle. The narrow win mattered because Dortmund arrived at this game after two straight draws against Werder Bremen and Union Berlin.
Dortmund Briefly Top the Table
The win briefly took Dortmund top of the Bundesliga with 17 points from seven games (five wins, two draws), while Frankfurt stayed 11th with eight points. The game was watched live from the Signal Iduna Park stands by Dortmund's former legendary coach, Jürgen Klopp.
For coach Niko Kovac, the win over his former club confirmed that Dortmund remain title contenders despite briefly losing top spot. Dortmund's dominance showed in the stats: 58 per cent possession against 42 per cent, and 20 crosses against Frankfurt's eight.
Next up, Dortmund face a huge test when they host Bayern Munich the following week, while Frankfurt will meet Hamburg SV in back-to-back league and cup ties.
