Goalless First Half at the Metropolitano

Atlético Madrid picked up another narrow home win. In LaLiga 2026/2027 matchday 10 at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano, in the early hours of Sunday (25/10/2026) WIB, the hosts beat Deportivo La Coruña 1-0 thanks to Julián Álvarez's goal in the 48th minute.

The first half ended goalless. Atlético had a scare when Álex Grimaldo picked up an injury in the 34th minute, but the wing-back returned to the pitch two minutes later and went on to play a decisive role after the break. The 0-0 scoreline held until half-time, and Deportivo went into the dressing room with their defence still intact.

Álvarez Breaks the Deadlock, Grimaldo Assists

The deadlock was broken three minutes into the second half. In the 48th minute, Álex Grimaldo's pass was finished by Julián Álvarez for the only goal of the game. That proved enough for all three points, even as Deportivo kept pushing for an equaliser until the final whistle.

Atlético changed things at the start of the second half, bringing on Robin Le Normand for Ademola Lookman and Giuliano Simeone for Pablo Barrios. In the 67th minute, Alexander Sørloth came on for Lee Kang-in to add attacking threat, but no further goals followed. Deportivo also made a series of changes, including Luismi Cruz and Adama Traoré in the 58th minute, yet Atlético's defence held until the end.

Atlético Keep Pace with Barcelona

The win takes Atlético to 25 points from 10 games and keeps them second in the LaLiga standings, two points behind Barcelona, who had 27 points from nine games before playing El Clásico against Real Madrid on Sunday night. Deportivo stay on 11 points from 10 games.

For Atlético, the win over Deportivo is a third straight league victory, following the 2-1 win over Deportivo Alavés and the 1-0 win over Espanyol. That run keeps the pressure on at the top, while Deportivo return home empty-handed despite holding the hosts goalless for the first 45 minutes.
