Strong Confidence, Economy Becomes a Concern
JAKARTA — A Voxpol Center Research and Consulting survey has found an intriguing paradox in public perception of the administration of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. On one hand, the level of public trust is relatively strong: 63.1% of the public said they trust the Prabowo-Gibran administration — consisting of 6.7% who strongly trust and 56.4% who trust. On the other hand, more than half of respondents rated the government's performance in the economic sector as unsatisfactory.
The survey titled "Evaluation of 2 Years of Government Performance, Priority Programs and Current Issues" was released Thursday (22/10/2026) via the Voxpol Center Official YouTube channel by CEO and Executive Director of Voxpol Center Research and Consulting, Pangi Syarwi. "The level of respondent trust in the Prabowo-Gibran administration is relatively strong, reaching 63.1%, while 35.7% expressed little or no trust," said Pangi. The group of people with little trust stood at 29.3%, while 6.4% expressed strong distrust.
Economy: Highest Dissatisfaction
Voxpol noted that the highest public appreciation for government performance was concentrated in the basic public services and national stability sectors. The social and cultural sector topped public satisfaction at 75.4%, followed by the defense and security sector at 71.8%, and health at 70.7%. The infrastructure and basic services sector also received a positive rating of 59.6%.
However, the economic sector recorded the highest dissatisfaction rate compared to other sectors: 51.6% of respondents expressed dissatisfaction, while only 47.7% said they were satisfied with the government's performance in the economic field. The main indicators driving that dissatisfaction include the stability of the rupiah exchange rate (56.4%), the national economic condition in general (55%), the creation and provision of new jobs (54.2%), and the control of staple goods prices (54.1%). The economic record becomes the government's biggest homework as it enters the second year of its term.
Eastern Indonesia Most Trusting
Territorially, trust in the Prabowo-Gibran administration was recorded as highest in Bali, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) at 88.40%. The next position was occupied by the Sulawesi region with a trust level of 75.60%, followed by Maluku and Papua at 71.30%. According to Pangi Syarwi, this trust reflects public optimism toward the national leadership and can serve as capital for the government to improve performance and realize priority programs.
This national survey was conducted by Voxpol Center from October 3-12, 2026, involving 1,200 respondents across 38 provinces. The survey used a multistage random sampling method through face-to-face interviews based on an Android application (i-voxpol).
