Marking 75 Years on October 17, 2026
JAKARTA — President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto turned 75 on Saturday, October 17, 2026. Prabowo was born in Jakarta on October 17, 1951, to economist Soemitro Djojohadikusumo and Dora Marie Sigar.
The President's birthday has captured public attention. The keyword "ultah Prabowo" surged sharply since Friday night, ranking among the top trends on Google Trends Indonesia, while his name has also been widely discussed on social media.

From the Military to the Apex of National Leadership
Before entering politics, Prabowo built a long career in the military. He participated in the Partai Golkar presidential candidate convention for the 2004 presidential election, though he was not selected.
In 2008, Prabowo founded the Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra) and has served as its General Chairman to this day. He ran as the vice-presidential candidate in the 2009 Presidential Election, and subsequently as the presidential candidate in the 2014 and 2019 Presidential Elections.
In the 2024 Presidential Election, Prabowo, paired with Gibran Rakabuming Raka, was finally elected as President of the Republic of Indonesia with 58.59 percent of the vote. The two were inaugurated on October 20, 2024, and now lead the government for the 2024–2029 period.
Gibran Seeks Prayers from Kiai in Pasuruan
A day before the President's birthday, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka paid a friendly visit to senior kiai, ibu nyai, and the caretakers of the Darullughah Wadda'wah Islamic Boarding School (PP Dalwa) in Pasuruan Regency, East Java, Friday (16/10/2026).
"Please pray, Kyai and Bu Nyai, that Mr. President is always given the strength to resolve the nation's current problems," said Vice President Gibran at the meeting.
The Vice President's arrival was welcomed by the leadership of PP Dalwa, Abuya Al Habib Zain Hasan Baharun, along with the pesantren's caretakers. Gibran also performed Friday prayers with the students at Baitul Ghoffar Mosque, then visited the grave of the pesantren's founder.
Review AI Training for 20,000 Santri
Gibran's visit to PP Dalwa was also to review artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics training for the students and teaching staff. The program reaches more than 20,000 PP Dalwa students.
"Alhamdulillah, the AI & robotics training for the santri could be carried out thanks to the support of the Kyai & Bu Nyai," said Gibran. He hoped that the instructors would continue to improve their technological capacity so they could accompany the santri in facing digital disruption.
