Energy Minister Bahlil Lahadalia revealed that the national Pertalite stock has shrunk from above 20 days to 16-18 days due to a shift of consumers from Pertamax to Pertalite. The government targets recovery to normal levels in about a week.
Key Facts
The national stock of Pertalite (RON 90) has shrunk from above 20 days to 16-18 days, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia revealed in Jakarta on Friday (16/10/2026).
The main cause is the migration of consumers from Pertamax (RON 92) to Pertalite due to the wide price disparity.
Pertamax's price rose from Rp12,300 to Rp16,250 per liter on June 10, 2026, triggering a surge in Pertalite consumption.
BPH Migas data recorded that Pertalite distribution rose 9.19 percent to 82,760 kiloliters per day in mid-June, and peaked at 12.92 percent in July 2026.
Other types of fuel such as Biosolar, Pertamax, Pertamax Green, and Pertamax Turbo were reported safe with no supply constraints.
The government is targeting the normalization of Pertalite stocks to 20 days within about a week through the blending process at refineries.
