16 Road Sections Temporarily Closed
JAKARTA — United Nations (UN) Secretary-General António Guterres is conducting a state visit to Indonesia on October 17–19, 2026. Polda Metro Jaya has prepared traffic engineering measures by temporarily closing 16 road sections from Jakarta to Bogor.
The affected stretches include Soekarno-Hatta Airport Road, Gatot Subroto Road, General Sudirman Road, MH Thamrin Road, South and East Medan Merdeka Roads, Perwira Road, and Taman Pejambon Road. In the surrounding areas, closures cover MH Thamrin Sentul Road, Bukit Sentul, Raya Cijayanti, Babakan-Bojong Koneng, Gunung Batu, Prabowo-Cisadon, Raya Sirkuit Sentul, and Anyar Road. Airline passengers traveling via Soekarno-Hatta Airport Road are advised to depart earlier to avoid missing their flights.

Only When the Convoy Passes
The traffic engineering advisory was issued by the Traffic Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya through the official Instagram account of the Traffic Management Center (TMC) Polda Metro Jaya on Friday (16/10/2026).
"In connection with the state visit of the United Nations Secretary-General, H.E. António Guterres, on 17-19 October 2026, we urge the public to anticipate travel and adjust their departure times," wrote the account @tmcpoldametro.
Police emphasized that the road closures are situational—implemented only as state guest motorcades pass through and reopened immediately after the convoys clear. Members of the public are urged to follow the instructions of officers in the field.
Agenda: Multilateralism and Peacekeeping Missions
UN spokesperson Farhan Haq stated that Guterres's visit includes meetings on strengthening cooperation between Indonesia and the UN within the multilateral system. Indonesia has long been known as one of the largest contributors of UN peacekeeping forces. This visit marks an official trip by Guterres to Indonesia during his tenure as UN Secretary-General, which concludes on December 31, 2026.
During his visit to Indonesia, Guterres is scheduled to visit the Indonesian National Armed Forces Peacekeeping Operations Center (PMPP TNI) and meet with Indonesian personnel set to deploy to the UN mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA).
Tribute to 50 Fallen Peacekeepers
Another agenda item was the laying of a wreath at the memorial for 50 Indonesian peacekeepers who died while serving under the UN flag.
In Jakarta, Guterres is also scheduled to deliver a speech on the future of multilateralism at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
