Arrested Following Cyber Patrol

The Directorate of Cyber Crime Investigation (Ditressiber) of Central Java Polda (Regional Police) arrested MR (27), a resident of Kudus Regency, after being caught broadcasting gambling via TikTok. The bust originated from a cyber patrol that discovered the TikTok account DrogNovv Backup streaming bets on virtual football matches.

Central Java Polda (Regional Police) Director of Cyber Crime Investigation Senior Commissioner Wahyu Nugroho Setyawan explained that the suspect was secured at his home in Kedungdowo Village, Kaliwungu District, Kudus Regency, on Thursday (22/10/2026) around 20:00 WIB (Western Indonesia Time). 'The modus operandi carried out by the suspect was organizing online gambling with a virtual football score-guessing mechanism streamed through the TikTok account DrogNovv Backup,' said Wahyu.

The matches being wagered on were not actual matches, but rather virtual football from the game Winning Eleven 2010 played on a PlayStation console and operated by a bot. Viewers of the live stream were invited to guess the scores of the virtual matches.

5 Percent Commission and Rp25 Million in 2 Months

The mechanism was simple: anyone wanting to place a bet had to transfer a certain amount of money to the suspect's account before the match started. 'From every incoming bet, the perpetrator received a 5 percent commission,' Wahyu stated.

Operating this activity for approximately two months, the suspect earned Rp25 million. Police seized several pieces of evidence, including 2 mobile phones, 1 monitor, 1 computer CPU unit and monitor, 1 microphone, 1 camera with tripod, 1 PlayStation set, and a bank account containing Rp25 million.

That sum of Rp25 million was both the total proceeds collected by the suspect over two months and the balance investigators found in the account used to receive transfers from betting participants.

Charged Under Article 426 of the Criminal Code

For his actions, the suspect is being legally processed and charged under Article 426 Paragraph (1) letter a or b of Law Number 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code (KUHP), carrying a maximum prison sentence of 9 years.

Investigators are still examining the betting mechanism and financial flows related to the gambling activity. This in-depth inquiry is crucial because the wagering occurred via live streaming and inter-account bank transfers, prompting investigators to trace everyone involved and where the funds flowed.

This case serves as a reminder that social media live streams are actively monitored by cyber patrols. What appears to be an ordinary video game stream can turn into gambling once viewers are asked to transfer money to guess match outcomes.
